How points are calculated

Updated on Sep 28, 2026

Each question is worth a number of points that depends on its difficulty: from 8 points for the easiest to 30 for the hardest. A wrong answer scores zero, never less: you do not lose points by getting it wrong.

In solo

A correct answer gives you the question's points, whether you answer fast or at the last second. If the timer runs out before you submit, the question scores nothing.

In multiplayer

In a room set to Standard mode, the rule is the same as in solo.

In Speed mode, in Quick Game and in Competitive, speed matters: the sooner you answer, the more your correct answer is worth. A correct answer given before the timer ends always keeps part of its points, even at the last second.

Partial credit

Some answers can be half right, and then earn part of the points:

  • Multiple Choice and Image Grid with several correct answers: every right box ticked counts, every wrong box ticked waters the score down. Ticking everything never earns full points.
  • Ranking: every well-placed item counts, every misplaced item waters the score down.
  • Matching: every correct pair counts, every wrong pair waters the score down.

In solo, this partial credit counts toward your end-of-game score and the level's best score. Only a fully correct answer counts as a correct answer for stars: see Stars and rewards.

Daily challenge and club challenges

Their ranking only keeps fully correct answers, which earn all of the question's points. A half-right answer earns nothing there: the end screen of these challenges says so next to the score.

In the daily challenge, an answer only counts if it arrives at least 500 milliseconds after its question appeared. In the daily challenge and in club challenges alike, if the server could not time a question (connection lost when it appeared), it counts the time from your previous answer: past the question's timer plus 25 seconds, the answer earns nothing. The end screen shows the score kept for the ranking and tells you when it differs from what you saw during the game.

Who sets the time and points

For official quizzes, time and points follow from the question's type and difficulty. The author of a community quiz can adjust them in the editor: see Create a quiz.
